Week1-Stepper Motor Connections ( Making up the Circuit)

A meeting was arranged with the group supervisor. We discussed all of the necessary steps. The Supervisor clarified some important aspects regarding the circuit design. He also suggested to choose the Bipolar Parallel Connection for the Stepper Motor.
Following that, a combination of the wires were made for the circuit.

  • RED(A)--  RED+BLK/WHT
  • BLK(A\)-  BLK+RED/WHT
  • GRN(B)-- GRN+YEL/WHT
  • YEL(B\)-- YEL+GRN/WHT

A prototype circuit was made to check the amplifier. The output we got was perfectly right. The Amplifier we used was the L298N. Following is the overview of the ratings of the amplifier.

  1. OPERATING SUPPLY VOLTAGE UP TO 46 V
  2. TOTAL DC CURRENT UP TO 4 A
  3. LOW SATURATION VOLTAGE
  4. OVER TEMPERATURE PROTECTION LOGICAL ”0” INPUT VOLTAGE UP TO 1.5V (HIGHNOISE IMMUNITY)

All of the other components were checked. No surface mount devices are being used in the project. A limit switch was obtained from the laboratory technicians which is used to cut the supply current from a circuit acting as a safety switch.
